PROF. SALIMUZZAMAN SIDDIQUI (FRS, H.I., S.I.)

Establishing Director, H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry

 On the retirement of Professor Salimuzzaman Siddiqui FRS as Chairman PCSIR, his administrations were taken up by the University of Karachi and a "Postgraduate Institute of Chemistry" was laid out under his Directorship in 1967 in a wing of the Department of Chemistry. PCSIR offered the types of assistance of a portion of its staff (counting Dr. Viqar Uddin Ahmad and Dr. Zafar H. Zaidi) and furniture during the underlying period of the foundation of this organization.

 Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman joined the Institute in March 1969 subsequent to acquiring Ph.D. from the Kings College, Cambridge University, later he acknowledged a 4-year task as a Fellow of Kings College, Cambridge University. He was then sent by Cambridge University to the University of Karachi during 1971-74 to aid the setting up of a cutting edge postgraduate establishment of science, and he carried with him gifts of gas chromatograph, balances and a burning microanalyser from Cambridge University. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman prevailed with regards to getting awards to gain another mass and NMR spectrometers, the two of which were introduced in 1973, in something like an extended period of his re-visitation of Pakistan. He was named as the Co-Director in 1977.
